Stop the War on the Poor

6 Oct , 2012

West Aucklanders marched and demonstrated in Henderson over the National Party’s controversial welfare reforms.

Paula Bennett’s plans to punish claimants for not complying with tough new conditions, invite accusations of hypocrisy as Ms Bennett has previously been in receipt of benefits herself, as has ACT party leader John Banks and the Prime Minister John Key himself.

Organisations supporting this event included Unite, Auckland Action Against Poverty, The Maori Party, Greens and Mana.

Speakers included Tim Te Moke- Morrison as the Maori party representative and John Minto as the Mana party representative.
